Light weights to failure: same muscle gains as heavy lifting?
NCT ID NCT07412600
First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study looked at whether lifting light weights (30% of your max) until you can't do another rep builds muscle and strength as well as lifting heavy weights (75% of your max) in young men who don't normally lift. Twenty-two healthy men aged 18-28 did leg exercises three times a week for six weeks. The main finding was that both approaches led to similar increases in muscle size and strength.
