Summary
This study investigates whether a person's glycolytic power — how efficiently their body uses sugar for quick energy — can predict muscle growth from resistance training. Healthy adults who have not done structured weight lifting in the past year will take a 10-second all-out cycling sprint test to measure their peak lactate accumulation. Then they will complete eight weeks of supervised leg-focused weight training. Researchers will measure changes in thigh muscle thickness to see if those with higher glycolytic power gain more muscle.
