Gentle exercise breakthrough for advanced MS: blood flow restriction boosts strength without heavy lifting

NCT ID NCT05433103

First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests a low-intensity strength training program that uses a special cuff to partially block blood flow to the arms or legs. The goal is to see if this approach can safely improve muscle strength, mobility, fatigue, and quality of life in people with advanced multiple sclerosis who have difficulty walking or use a wheelchair. About 58 veterans with MS will take part, and the program is designed to be gentle enough for those who cannot handle high-intensity exercise.
