Gentle exercise may ease shoulder pain without heavy lifting

NCT ID NCT07324993

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether 4 weeks of low-intensity shoulder exercises, done with or without a blood flow restriction cuff, can reduce pain and improve function in people with rotator cuff-related shoulder pain. 34 adults with long-lasting shoulder pain will be randomly assigned to one of two exercise groups. The goal is to find a safer, less intense way to help shoulder pain.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Resistance exercise with and without blood flow restriction (BFR) device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a gentler exercise option for people with shoulder pain, potentially reducing pain and disability without heavy weights.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 34 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and the benefits of adding blood flow restriction are uncertain.
