Low-Dose pill tested to stop deadly clots from coming back

NCT ID NCT04168203

Summary

This study tested if taking a low-dose blood thinner pill (apixaban) for a year could safely prevent dangerous blood clots from returning in high-risk patients. It involved 600 people who had a previous clot caused by a lasting health issue like obesity or heart failure. Participants were randomly assigned to take either the low-dose pill or a placebo (sugar pill) to see which was better at preventing clots without causing serious bleeding.
