Summary
This pilot study tested a Spanish-language chronic-disease self-management program called 'Tomando control de su salud' in 47 adults with Long-COVID and at least one other chronic condition in Puerto Rico. The goal was to see if the program could improve quality of life, reduce fatigue, and ease anxiety. Participants attended weekly sessions to build confidence in managing their health.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Tomando control de su salud (Spanish Chronic Disease Self-Management Program)
What this could lead to
If successful, this program could offer a practical, low-cost way to help people with Long-COVID better manage their symptoms and improve daily life.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 47 participants and no control group, so results may not apply broadly. The program is not a medical treatment and may not work for everyone.
