Liver transplant drug showdown: which lowers pressure better?

NCT ID NCT07304466

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study compares two drugs, terlipressin and somatostatin, to see which better lowers high blood pressure in the liver's main vein during a living-donor liver transplant. High pressure can cause dangerous bleeding, so finding the best drug may improve safety. About 50 adults with severe liver disease will receive one of the drugs during surgery, and their pressure, blood loss, and recovery will be tracked for a week.
