Simple blood tests could help monitor cancer treatment progress

NCT ID NCT05708599

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is collecting blood samples from 102 patients with non-small cell lung cancer, colorectal cancer, or pancreatic cancer who are receiving standard treatments. Researchers will analyze the blood for cancer DNA (ctDNA) to see how it changes over time and whether it relates to tumor response. The goal is to find better ways to monitor cancer using a simple blood test instead of repeated biopsies.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors use simple blood tests to monitor how well cancer treatments are working and detect changes early.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It only looks at blood samples and does not test any new drug or therapy, so it cannot directly improve patient outcomes.
