Summary
This study compares two blood test methods for detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) that express a protein called Axl, which is linked to more aggressive cancer. The new technique, called EPIDROP, is being tested against the standard CellSearch method in patients with metastatic pancreatic or breast cancer. If the EPIDROP test works well, it could provide a simpler way to track cancer spread and response to treatment without needing a tissue biopsy.
