New blood test could spot colon cancer before it spreads
NCT ID NCT06342440
First seen Jun 18, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a new blood test called DENEB that looks for tiny genetic markers (microRNAs) to detect colorectal cancer and precancerous polyps early. Researchers will collect blood samples from 2,000 people who are also getting a colonoscopy, then compare the test's accuracy. The goal is to create a simple, non-invasive screening option that could catch the disease sooner.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
DENEB blood test (measures microRNA levels in blood)
What this could lead to
If successful, this blood test could offer a simple, non-invasive way to catch colorectal cancer and precancerous growths early, potentially saving lives through earlier treatment.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study (2000 participants) focused on measuring accuracy. The test may not be sensitive or specific enough to replace colonoscopy, and results may not apply to everyone.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
