New pain block could cut opioid use after gynecologic cancer surgery

Summary
This study tests whether a long-acting numbing drug (liposomal bupivacaine) combined with standard bupivacaine can provide better pain relief after laparoscopic surgery for gynecologic cancers. About 110 adults undergoing such surgery will receive either the combination or standard care via an ultrasound-guided abdominal wall injection. The main goal is to see if patients need less morphine in the first 48 hours after surgery.
