Fat clues in diabetic pregnancies: can they predict bigger babies?

NCT ID NCT00639964

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at 186 pregnant women with type 1 or type 2 diabetes to understand how fats (lipids) in the mother's and baby's blood relate to birth weight. Even when blood sugar is well-controlled, babies of diabetic mothers are often larger than average, which can cause delivery problems and health issues later. The goal was to find new biological markers that could help guide nutrition and reduce these risks.
