Simple anesthesia adjustment could prevent Post-Surgery confusion and memory loss

NCT ID NCT06268080

Summary

This study is testing whether using a lighter level of general anesthesia during major surgery can help protect older adults' brains. It compares 'light' anesthesia to the usual 'deep' anesthesia to see if the lighter approach reduces post-surgery confusion (delirium) and long-term thinking and memory problems. The goal is to find a simple, widely available way to keep older patients' minds sharper after their operations.
