Shining a light on Alzheimer's prevention: could simple light therapy protect aging brains?
NCT ID NCT04018092
Summary
This study is testing whether a non-invasive light therapy can improve brain health and memory in older adults who are at increased risk for Alzheimer's disease. Researchers are using near-infrared light delivered through a headset and nasal device to 168 participants over 12 weeks, comparing it to a sham treatment. The goal is to see if this light stimulation can enhance memory, thinking skills, and brain connectivity in people with family history of Alzheimer's but no current dementia.
