Could chatting with AI keep aging brains sharp?

NCT ID NCT07751510

First seen Aug 07, 2026 ยท Last updated Aug 07, 2026

Summary

This trial tests whether a daily conversation platform powered by artificial intelligence can support cognitive health in older adults at high risk of dementia. Participants engage in voice-based conversations tailored to their interests, designed to exercise memory, attention, language, and problem-solving skills. The study first checks the platform's ease of use in a small group, then randomly assigns 60 older adults to either the AI conversations, interest-based news reading, or health education for 12 weeks. Researchers will compare changes in cognitive function, emotional well-being, and social connection to see if the platform is practical and potentially beneficial.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
A voice-based cognitive stimulation program delivered through a large language model-driven conversational platform
What this could lead to
If effective, this AI conversation platform could offer a home-based, engaging way to support memory, attention, and social connection in older adults at risk of dementia.
What could go wrong
This is an early feasibility study with a small number of participants, so results may not be conclusive. The platform's benefits are uncertain, and it is not a proven treatment for preventing dementia.
