First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a nurse-led program called TOP-S that helps people with metabolic syndrome make lasting lifestyle changes. 152 Chinese adults in Hong Kong will either get the full program or brief advice. Researchers will check if the program helps reverse metabolic syndrome and improve health measures like blood pressure and blood sugar over 20 weeks.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
nurse-led lifestyle modification program (TOP-S)
What this could lead to
If successful, this program could offer a practical, scalable way to reverse metabolic syndrome and reduce heart disease risk through lifestyle changes alone.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 152 participants and short follow-up (20 weeks). Long-term benefits and adherence are uncertain, and results may not apply to non-Chinese populations.
