Lidocaine may speed up anesthesia recovery in laparoscopic surgery
NCT ID NCT07193836
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether giving lidocaine through a vein can help patients fall asleep faster and wake up sooner after laparoscopic gallbladder or gynecologic surgery. About 150 adults will be split into three groups: one gets a single dose of lidocaine, another gets a continuous infusion, and the third gets a placebo. Researchers will monitor brain activity to see if lidocaine reduces the amount of anesthesia needed and shortens recovery time, aiming to make surgery safer and recovery smoother.
