Lidocaine may speed up anesthesia recovery in laparoscopic surgery
NCT ID NCT07193836
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving lidocaine through a vein can help patients fall asleep faster and wake up sooner after laparoscopic gallbladder or gynecologic surgery. About 150 adults will be randomly assigned to receive a single dose, a continuous infusion, or a placebo, alongside standard anesthesia. Researchers will monitor brain activity to see if lidocaine reduces the amount of anesthetic needed and shortens recovery time, aiming to improve safety and comfort.
