First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving the numbing drug lidocaine continuously through a vein during weight-loss surgery could reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers afterward. 180 adults scheduled for bariatric surgery took part. Researchers measured how much pain medicine they used and how quickly they were ready to leave the hospital.
