Scientists track 5,000 families to unlock secrets of rare cancer syndrome
NCT ID NCT01443468
Summary
This study aims to better understand Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS), a rare genetic condition that greatly increases a person's risk of developing many types of cancer. Researchers will follow 5,000 individuals and families with LFS over many years to learn about the types of cancers they get, identify other possible genetic causes, and see how environmental factors might affect risk. The study involves filling out questionnaires, giving blood or cheek cell samples, and optional cancer screening, but it does not test a new treatment.
