New test and pill aim to stop leprosy before it starts

NCT ID NCT06222372

Summary

This study aims to prevent leprosy in people who live near someone diagnosed with the disease. Researchers will give a single dose of the antibiotic rifampicin to 1100 contacts in Bangladesh to see if it clears a hidden infection. They will also test a new, simple finger-prick blood test to identify who is infected and needs the preventive treatment.
