Cord cell injection shows promise for stubborn leprosy wounds
NCT ID NCT05777213
First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This early-phase trial tested whether an injection made from human umbilical cord cells (secretome) can help heal chronic ulcers caused by leprosy. 27 adults with ulcers that did not improve with standard care received the injection. Researchers measured wound size changes and checked for side effects over 12 weeks. The goal was to see if the treatment is safe and worth testing in larger studies.
