New camera could spare skin cancer patients from unnecessary biopsies
NCT ID NCT07501780
First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests a new, non-invasive imaging tool called LC-OCT that may help doctors diagnose basal cell carcinoma (the most common skin cancer) without taking a biopsy. Researchers will look back at medical records of about 300 adults who had this scan as part of their regular care. The goal is to see if LC-OCT is accurate enough to replace the standard biopsy, which is invasive and costly.
