New 'Lattice' radiation aims to zap tumor pain better than standard therapy
NCT ID NCT07444775
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 3 trial compares lattice radiation therapy (LRT) to standard radiation for reducing pain from large solid tumors (at least 5 cm). About 148 adults whose tumors cannot be surgically removed will be randomly assigned to one of the two radiation approaches. The main goal is to see if more people report significant pain relief 30 days after LRT compared to standard treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
radiation therapy (lattice radiation therapy vs conventional radiation therapy)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a more effective way to ease pain from large tumors without increasing side effects.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage trial with 148 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The new technique might not improve pain control or could cause unexpected side effects.
