Laser vs. tongue exercises: the battle to stop snoring

NCT ID NCT07669870

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested two simple treatments for snoring in people with mild sleep apnea: low-level laser therapy applied to the mouth and soft palate, and oropharyngeal exercises (like tongue and throat workouts). 180 adults aged 40-55 took part. The goal was to see which approach reduces snoring more and improves sleep quality.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

low-level laser therapy and oropharyngeal exercises

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a non-invasive, drug-free way to ease snoring and improve sleep quality for people with mild sleep apnea.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with no phase designation, so results may not apply broadly. Snoring severity is measured by a questionnaire, which is subjective.
