Laser and 'Skin Booster' injection may reverse sun damage and prevent cancer

NCT ID NCT07680426

First seen Jul 02, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether combining a fractional laser with a biostimulator (poly-L-lactic acid) can repair sun-damaged skin better than either treatment alone. The goal is to improve skin health and potentially lower the risk of skin cancer. Researchers will use AI-assisted imaging and genetic analysis to measure changes in the skin. The trial involves 33 adults with signs of chronic sun damage.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra)

What this could lead to

If it works, this approach could offer a non-surgical way to reverse sun damage and reduce the risk of skin cancer.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with 33 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Laser and injections carry risks like redness, swelling, or infection.
