Could a Red-Light brace ease back pain after spinal fusion?
NCT ID NCT06282770
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a back brace with red laser diodes can reduce chronic lower back pain in people who had spinal fusion or decompression surgery 1 to 5 years ago. Half of the 80 participants will wear the active laser brace, and half will wear a sham brace that looks the same but does nothing. Researchers will measure pain, disability, and scar healing over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Laser Diode Brace
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could provide a drug-free option to reduce chronic back pain and improve wound healing after spinal surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage study with only 80 people. The sham brace may show similar results, and the effect on pain may be small or temporary.
