First seen Dec 15, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looked at whether taking oral L-carnitine, a natural supplement, can lower inflammation and improve nutrition in people with advanced kidney failure who are on long-term dialysis. Fifty adults were randomly assigned to receive either L-carnitine or a placebo for three months. Researchers measured changes in blood markers of inflammation and nutrition to see if the supplement offers any benefit.
