NCT ID NCT06964633
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
The Ku Ola Project will enroll 600 Native Hawaiian men in Hawaii to see if a single 2-hour discussion session, blending health topics with Hawaiian cultural teachings, can improve health knowledge and encourage healthy behaviors. Participants complete surveys before and after the session and make a personal health commitment. Researchers will follow up after six months to check if participants followed through on cancer screenings or other health changes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Kūkākūkā Discussion Sessions (behavioral intervention)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that culturally grounded group discussions help Native Hawaiian men adopt healthier behaviors and complete cancer screenings.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage behavioral study with no control group and relies on self-reported surveys, so results may not prove lasting change or apply to other groups.
