Could a simple knee sleeve slow arthritis and ease pain?
NCT ID NCT07674901
First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether wearing a knee sleeve daily for five years can slow the progression of knee arthritis and reduce pain in adults aged 50 to 64 who have had knee pain for at least three months. Participants are randomly assigned to either wear a knee sleeve every day or not use one. Researchers track changes in knee X-rays and symptoms over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
knee sleeve (elasticized fabric support)
What this could lead to
If effective, daily knee sleeve use could offer a simple, non-drug way to slow knee arthritis and reduce pain in older adults.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small trial, and results may not apply to everyone. Knee sleeves might not slow arthritis or improve symptoms for all users.
