Fat cell therapy plus microfracture shows promise for knee arthritis relief

NCT ID NCT07112885

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study tested whether combining a patient's own fat-derived cells (stromal vascular fraction) with a minor surgical procedure called microfracture can improve knee osteoarthritis better than the cell therapy alone. Fifty adults with moderate knee arthritis were randomly assigned to one of two groups. Researchers measured pain, function, and cartilage changes over two years to see if the combination offered superior results.
