Can tape or a pressure vest ease Post-Radiation breast swelling?

NCT ID NCT07767305

First seen Aug 17, 2026 · Last updated Aug 17, 2026

Summary

This trial tests whether two physical therapies—Kinesio Taping and compression therapy—can relieve breast lymphedema, a common side effect of breast-conserving surgery and radiation that causes swelling, pain, and heaviness. About 99 women who have completed radiation and have ultrasound-confirmed lymphedema will be randomly assigned to routine care alone, routine care plus Kinesio Taping, or routine care plus a compression vest. Over six weeks, researchers will track changes in symptoms, skin thickness, and quality of life, with follow-ups at three and six months after treatment ends.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Kinesio Taping (elastic tape applied to the skin) and compression therapy (adjustable pressure vest), both added to routine care
What this could lead to
If effective, these simple, non-drug therapies could offer a practical way to reduce swelling, pain, and heaviness in breast cancer survivors, improving their quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a single-center trial with a modest number of participants, and results may not apply broadly. The therapies may provide only temporary relief, and individual responses can vary.
