New suction catheter aims to suck away kidney stones
NCT ID NCT07225933
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks back at the medical records of 3000 people who had kidney stones removed using one of two new devices: the CVAC system, a steerable suction catheter, or a special suction tube called FANS. Researchers want to see how well each device clears stones and how safe they are. The goal is to find better ways to treat kidney stones with fewer complications.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CVAC® System (steerable aspiration catheter) and Flexible and Navigational Ureteral Access Sheath (FANS)
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show that the CVAC system is a safe and effective tool for removing kidney stones, potentially reducing the need for more invasive procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a retrospective study, meaning it looks back at past data, not a controlled trial. Results may not prove the device is better than other methods, and individual outcomes can vary.
