First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study compares two common treatments for kidney stones that are 1 to 2 centimeters in size: shock wave therapy (ESWL) and laser surgery (RIRS). About 98 adults with a single kidney stone will receive one of the two treatments and be followed for 28 days. The goal is to see which method clears stones more completely, causes less pain, and leads to a shorter hospital stay.
