New suction device may improve kidney stone removal

NCT ID NCT07286071

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested two different tools used during surgery to remove kidney stones up to 20 mm. One is a traditional tube that lets fluid and stone pieces flow out, and the other is a newer tube that uses suction to actively pull out stone fragments. The goal was to see which tool clears stones better and causes fewer problems like infection or injury. 140 adults with a single kidney stone took part, and their results were compared after surgery.
