Ketamine during surgery may ease pain and boost mental health after severe accidents

Summary
This study tests whether a single dose of ketamine given during surgery can reduce pain, lower the need for opioids, and improve depression and PTSD symptoms in adults with serious orthopedic trauma. About 90 participants will be randomly assigned to receive ketamine or standard anesthesia. They will report pain levels and complete mental health surveys over six months after surgery.
