One-Day HPV test and treatment could cut cervical cancer in women with HIV
NCT ID NCT07225530
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a same-day HPV screening and treatment approach can help prevent cervical cancer in women living with HIV in the Dominican Republic. 600 women will be randomly assigned to either the new same-day method or standard care. The goal is to see if more women complete the full screening-to-treatment process with the faster approach.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Same-day HPV screening and ablative treatment
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could make cervical cancer prevention faster and more accessible for women with HIV in low-resource settings.
What could go wrong
This is an implementation study, not a drug trial. Results may not apply to other regions or populations, and the approach may not reduce cancer rates long-term.
