NCT ID NCT06833788
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares IV iron to oral iron pills for treating moderate anemia after a C-section. The goal is to see if better iron levels can reduce the risk of postpartum depression. About 2,860 women will take part, and their mood will be checked 8 weeks after delivery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Ferric carboxymaltose (IV iron) and Timoférol (oral iron)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could show that treating anemia after C-section with IV iron lowers the chance of postpartum depression.
- What could go wrong
- This is a Phase 4 trial, but it's still recruiting and results aren't in yet. The benefit may be small or not apply to all women, and IV iron carries rare risks like allergic reactions.
