Could extra heart testing ease chest pain in blocked artery patients?
NCT ID NCT07449052
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether adding a special heart function test (coronary function testing) to the standard artery-opening procedure (angioplasty) can better relieve chest pain and improve quality of life. About 450 adults with a significant blockage in a major heart artery will take part. Half will get the standard procedure alone, and half will also get the extra testing to guide additional treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that extra heart function testing helps doctors better treat chest pain and improve daily life for people with blocked arteries.
What could go wrong
This trial is not yet recruiting and is relatively small (450 people). It tests a diagnostic procedure, not a new drug, so the benefit may be modest and not apply to all patients.
