NCT ID NCT05805631

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This phase 2 trial tests a combination of pemetrexed (given into the spinal fluid) and a tyrosine kinase inhibitor for people with a specific type of lung cancer (EGFR-mutant NSCLC) that has spread to the lining of the brain and spinal cord (leptomeningeal metastasis) after the drug osimertinib stops working. The study aims to see if this approach can control the disease and improve survival. About 23 adults will take part.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

pemetrexed (given into the spinal fluid) plus a tyrosine kinase inhibitor

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with lung cancer that has spread to the lining of the brain and spinal cord after standard therapy fails.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase study with only 23 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment involves injecting chemotherapy into the spinal fluid, which carries risks like infection or nerve damage.
