New scan technique may improve screw placement in back surgery
NCT ID NCT04134975
First seen Jun 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at 126 adults having lower back surgery to see if using a special scan during surgery (intraoperative scanning with navigation) helps place screws more accurately than the usual X-ray method (fluoroscopy). The goal was to check screw placement and measure radiation exposure for both patients and the surgical team. Results will help determine if the newer technique is safer and more precise.
