Can home workouts match In-Person therapy for MS?
NCT ID NCT06210581
First seen Sep 15, 2026 · Last updated Sep 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Researchers are comparing two ways of delivering exercise therapy to people with multiple sclerosis: supervised sessions with a physiotherapist and a program followed over the internet. The study enrolls 34 adults with moderate to severe disability, measured by an EDSS score of 5.5 to 7.5. Over two months, participants complete aerobic, strengthening, balance, and relaxation exercises. The team measures changes in walking endurance and fatigue to see whether the internet-based approach works as well as in-person supervision.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- exercise programs delivered either in person under a physiotherapist's supervision or over the internet
- What this could lead to
- If internet-based exercise works as well as supervised sessions, people with multiple sclerosis who struggle to travel could get effective rehabilitation at home.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small study of 34 people with significant disability, so the results may not apply to everyone with MS. Exercise can also cause fatigue or strain, and some participants may not complete the program.
