Can a smartphone app treat depression as well as a therapist?

NCT ID NCT02542891

First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested whether a blend of online therapy sessions and a smartphone app could help adults with major depression as much as traditional face-to-face therapy. 105 French adults participated, and researchers measured their depression symptoms using standard questionnaires. The goal was to see if the internet-based approach is both effective and more affordable.
