First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study aims to learn how the hormone insulin controls blood sugar in different people. Researchers will test a new procedure called the graded insulin suppression test (GIST) in 15 volunteers, including healthy individuals and those at higher risk for type 2 diabetes. Participants receive medications to temporarily stop their own insulin production, then receive insulin at two levels to see how blood sugar responds. The goal is to better understand insulin resistance and how much insulin the body truly needs.
