First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a natural substance called inorganic nitrate can safely lower blood pressure in pregnant women with chronic hypertension. About 144 women will receive either nitrate or a placebo from the second trimester onward. The goal is to see if nitrate reduces the need for standard blood pressure medications and improves blood flow to the baby.
