Can a simple blood test predict infections in CLL and myeloma patients?
NCT ID NCT05844033
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is looking for a better way to predict infection risk in people with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or multiple myeloma. Researchers will use advanced lab tests on blood samples from 150 participants to find a biomarker that could warn doctors ahead of time. The goal is to personalize care and reduce serious infections.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that helps doctors predict which patients are at higher risk for infections, allowing for earlier preventive care.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The biomarker may not prove accurate enough for routine use, and results may take years to confirm.
