Summary
This study tests whether an untrained helper can use a simple digital scanner to capture the shape of a veteran's residual limb, replacing one in-person visit to the prosthetist. 25 veterans with below-knee amputations will be randomly assigned to get a socket made from a helper's digital scan or a prosthetist's traditional hand cast. The goal is to see if the digitally-made socket fits just as well, reducing travel burden for rural veterans.
