New combo therapy aims to cut disability after 'silent' strokes

NCT ID NCT07252544

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether two medicines, isosorbide mononitrate and butylphthalide, can reduce disability in people who recently had a lacunar stroke (a small stroke deep in the brain). About 3,156 adults aged 30 and older will receive one or both drugs or placebos for up to a year. The goal is to see if these treatments help prevent long-term problems like trouble walking, thinking, or having another heart or brain event.
