Sharper aim, fewer scars: new radiation technique tested for childhood tumors

NCT ID NCT00186992

First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests a technique called image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) for children and young adults with bone or soft tissue tumors. IGRT uses detailed scans (CT, MRI, PET) to target the tumor very precisely, aiming to destroy the cancer while protecting healthy tissue. The goal is to see if this approach reduces tumor regrowth and limits side effects. About 202 participants are enrolled at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
