Inflammation and thyroid: a hidden connection in kidney patients?

NCT ID NCT07328113

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study examined whether a marker of inflammation called interleukin-6 (IL-6) is linked to thyroid hormone problems in people with chronic kidney disease on dialysis. Researchers analyzed blood samples from 65 stable dialysis patients. The goal was to see if higher IL-6 levels correlate with abnormal thyroid hormone levels, which could help explain why thyroid issues are common in this group.
