Can a simple antibody infusion shield myeloma patients from infections?

NCT ID NCT06976476

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether IgPro20 (HIZENTRA), a concentrated antibody solution given under the skin, can prevent infections in people with multiple myeloma who have low antibody levels due to bispecific antibody therapy. About 100 participants will either receive IgPro20 plus standard care or standard care alone. The goal is to see if infection rates drop over six months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
IgPro20 (HIZENTRA), a subcutaneous immunoglobulin
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a way to reduce serious infections in multiple myeloma patients receiving bispecific antibody therapy, improving their quality of life and treatment tolerance.
What could go wrong
This is a phase 2 trial with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The treatment is preventive, not curative, and carries risks like allergic reactions or infusion site issues.
